The Butterfly bed

Spalted maple panel in headboard
A commissioned piece, the clients were extremely generous in giving me creative latitude.  They were attracted to the organic lines of the spalted maple I had shown them, salvaged from a log to be cut into firewood.

After re-sawing several pieces, I found an incredible book match for the center of the headboard, symbolic in a number of ways.  The wenge details accentuate the contrast between the maple and the cherry, and the beauty of the cherry speaks for itself.  You can see the accompanying nightstands under "cabinets"
