White oak bed

White oak bed
The clients wanted a fairly rectilinear bed with simple lines but with a curved headboard so they could sit up and read comfortably.  I employed simple slats, curving them to match the sweep of the legs, reminiscient of a sleigh bed.

Note the short "foot legs" with a "foot rail" rather than a footboard, for sleeping and bed making comfort.

The "fifth" leg in the middle supports a central support which better supports the rails supporting the mattress, a little extra I now do on all my beds.
