Walnut bedside tables

Walnut bedside table to match the Walnut bedPicture

The matched pair of bedside tables

A  pair of night tables made to complement the Walnut Bed.  The same leg style was used, which resulted in an unusual drawer shape:  the slides are sloped at about a three degree angle to follow the leg's shape, so the fronts are trapezoidal.
The wood is from the same log used to make the panels of the bed.  Since it was "flitch sawn", meaning cut in sequential slices, I was able to create tables which in many ways are mirror images of one another.  Choosing sequential boards allows the creation of "bookmatches" i.e. matching them as if opening pages of a book, this is particularly evident in the picture to your left.
